Tropicana New Packaging Design

Tropicana's new packaging design has missed it's mark on at least two criteria. First, why redesign the packaging design and keep the out dated package? Second, the design aim is minimal, which is the current trend, but in this case subdued design scheme is not as appealing as the previous packaging design. I would have brought the package itself up to date (or actually, it would be retro) and packaged it in a glass container, which would not only sell the product itself by letting you see the delicious Orange Juice, but glass would be easier to recycle and therefore be more environmentally friendly. This is what the current minimum trend is all about. As for the design, I would go even more minimal. No need for the picture of a glass of orange juice when you can see the orange juice through the glass container.

  1. I totally agree with your comment on the orange juice... At a first glance, the package is quite okay, but the fact that it has been redesigned, makes me wish that they had done a greater difference from the original package. Now, it has only been minimized and cleaner... The package design is probably the same or almost same which does not make it so different.

  2. While i agree on the blandness of the new package, i don't know if clear glass is a good idea. The carton has the advantage of protecting the contents from light. Maybe a colored glass solution might work - green glass with an orange label?
